How many years have you been a freelance illustrator?

Freelancing Four years. July makes it a full year I have been totally out on my own.

How reliable are you?

I take deadlines very seriously. Having been in the position of the art director for many years I know how busy they are. Art directors want to be able to pass work on to artist they can trust to get the job done well and on time.

Why do you keep a blog?

I just started blogging as a way to show work and tell the story behind it. The blog also gives me a venue to share news and show sketches and other pieces that I might not show on my portfolio site.

In a commercial sense what can your work be applied too?

I see my work being used in all kinds of markets but the bulk of my work is in the children’s industry.

Who are your top clients?

This year I have had the opportunity to work with Blockbuster, Oxford University Press, MacMillan, Scholastic, and Thinkfun. I also have some clients who’s name might not ring a bell but they have been great to work with.

Apart from illustration what other skills do you have?

I changed the breaks on my car recently but I’m wondering if that squeaking sound means I’m not as skilled as I thought. I also enjoy creating logos and working with type.

What’s your favourite sandwich filling?

Growing up in the south I really love a good Barbeque sandwiches or a BLT as long as the tomatoes are homegrown.
